When it comes to living everyday life, some DIY skills like how to make a DIY extension board can come in handy. You can attest to the fact that using modern gadgets, Electronics / Electrical Appliances, and other electricity-powered items could become almost impossible or difficult at some point due to lack of electric supply. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, and when you are in a hostel or at home with no extra socket or extension, a skill like knowing how to make a DIY extension board will come in handy. So, here is one of the easiest ways to make an extension board by yourself. The supplies needed are quite affordable and accessible, so you do not need to travel long distances or spend so much money.
Here we go:
First step: Materials Required for a DIY extension board
Tools Required :
1) Screwdriver
2) A Pliers or Wire Stripper & Cutter
Required Material :
1) Hole WH Switch (20 Amp)
2) Combined Box
3) 3 pin (6 Amp) Plug
Second step: Opening the combined Box
Open the combined Box with the help of Screws positioned on either side.
Now you want to make a Hole on the combined Box. Remember that the hole has to be on the front side, i.e., on the body of the Box, which is close to the Earthing Pin Hole.
In order to make the required hole, you can make use of a sharp Knife.
The ultimate goal is to make a hole on the body of the Box in order to make passage space for the wire.
Third Step: Circuit
It is the easiest circuit. The only thing that you need to do in order to join the live part of your socket to one of the contact points of the switch.
Once you have done that, you can join the Green Wire to the Earthing Point, then join the Black Wire to the Neutral point and also join the Red wire to the other contact point available on the switch.
After successfully inserting the wire in the Box, you have to tie a Knot in the wire so that it doesn’t slip out of the Box while you use the Extension Board.
Fourth step: The 3 Pin Connection
Strip the wire you have and carefully open the 3 Pin Plug. You will find a small cylindrical wire attachment in the plug, insert this attachment in the wire.
Now, you have to connect the Green wire tightly to the Earth contact point, connect the Black wire to the neutral contact point, and finally connect the Red wire to the Live contact point.
Finally, you have to join all of the pieces of the plug.
Fifth step: Extension Board Ready
Your Extension Board is now done and ready to use !!
As you can see, the process is easy and straightforward. Once you can get all the supplies and follow the steps above, you’ll be able to get the Box done and connect your devices and electrical appliances.
