Table of Contents

The right internet content for your spiritual life isn’t the easiest thing to figure out in a fastpaced digital world like ours. Our spiritual life is as important as every other aspect of our life, be it physical, emotional, financial, social, etc. The internet consists of a variety of contents used by people worldwide.

As Christians, we are saddled with the responsibility of filtering internet contents, taking those that are useful to us, and leaving the rest.

We are in the 21st century, where the internet is no longer a medium used to source for rightful and useful information. However, it is now used to source for all forms of dubious information that may not be useful to our growth.

Christians who are not strong in faith may fall victim to some of the vague contents we find on the internet today.

How to choose the right internet contents for our spiritual life

Be decisive

One thing is to make a decision; another is to follow up on the choice you have made. As a believer, you need to decide within yourself what the right internet content for you should be. This includes the sites, pages, and contents you will be visiting as they are sacrosanct to your spiritual life. It’ll keep you from wondering about the net and, at the same time deviating from your aim.

Be mindful

It’s evident that the internet consists of a whole bunch of vague stuff; therefore, you need to be mindful.  You have to be careful with the pages you click so you don’t find yourself on pages that add nothing to your spiritual life.

Ask questions

Sometimes the world’s most popular search engine, Google, can be so mysterious by giving you answers different from what you are looking for. This happens most likely because you haven’t been searching for the right internet content for some time. At this point, you can ask someone higher than you spiritually for directions on how to surf the internet and get the right answers you need on your spiritual life.

Take what you need

The best way to get the right content from the internet is by using the right keywords. You can’t search for a topic not relating to God and Christianity and expect to get a spiritual response, no way. If you want the right content, search for the right things.

Ways we can build up our spiritual life

Aside from using the web to search for the right internet contents that can help us spiritually, there are other things we can do as Christians to build up our spiritual life

Feed on the word

For you to have a strong spiritual life, you need to make studying the scriptures a daily exercise in your life. God speaks through his word, and a constant study of God’s word will not only help strengthen your faith but make you understand the ways of God and bring you closer to him.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth: but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall have good success” ( Joshua 1:8 )

Pray constantly

1st Thessalonians 5:17, “pray without ceasing.” As Christians, our prayer life should not be down if we want to grow spiritually. We should cultivate the habit of praying at all times; be it good or bad times, we should never forget to pray. Pray to God to give you the wisdom and guidance to build up your spiritual life. Even with the right internet content, your everyday life also need intentional work such as constant prayers if you must please God.

Change your playlist

Music, they say, is the food of the soul; what kind of food do you feed to your soul?  Try listening to songs that will connect you to God, creating an atmosphere of intimacy between you and Him. Songs have the power to provoke and bring out inner emotions, so mind the kind of songs you listen to.

Partner with the Holy Spirit

Jesus said in the Bible that he would send a comforter which is the Holy Spirit. Making the Holy Spirit part of your life will help you to understand the things of God more. The Holy Spirit is a helpmate, and if we accept his leading, we would never make mistakes.

Fasting

Fasting helps to build our spirit man and brings about spiritual transformation. However, it is pertinent to note that fasting goes with prayer. When you fast and pray, your spiritual potency becomes strong. It is a time to feed on the Holy Ghost. Fasting helps in strengthening our spiritual life since the flesh has already been subdued.

Use your words

But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matt 12:36). The Bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue. Desist from uttering negative words but instead use your mouth to proclaim your positive expectations into existence. What are your expectations for your spiritual life? Use your tongue wisely and speak life-changing growth.

Surround yourself with people with similar goals

In his word, Jesus said; forsake not the gathering of the brethren ( Heb 10:25;  Not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching).

You need to be around people who have the same aim/ purpose as you. Be in the midst of people who are ready to grow spiritually and learn from God. This will help keep you motivated and strengthen your urge for spiritual growth. Bad friends and peers could influence your decisions when it comes to choosing the right internet content for your spiritual life.

Attend Gospel events

Find any gospel event you can be attending that can draw you closer to God. It could be a gospel music concert, a worship experience, or watching a Christian movie.

Do the work

We always get occupied that we neglect our spiritual health. Doing fieldwork, going out to preach the gospel, evangelizing, and making it your sole aim to win souls for Christ also helps to build you up spiritually.
